From Service to Strategy

Karthik’s professional path is as diverse as it is impactful. After serving in the Indian Armed Forces, he transitioned to the corporate world, taking on roles in real estate transaction advisory, capital markets, distribution, marketing, and business transformation. His career includes stints at Cushman & Wakefield, Tupperware Brands, Prudential International Insurance, and Pramerica Life Insurance. Each experience enriched his understanding of strategy, execution, and the importance of aligning purpose with performance.

During his initial tenure at Pramerica Life, Karthik established the Retail Affinity Business Lines, including Prahri and Param, dedicated to serving the Indian Armed Forces and the Central Armed Police Forces. These initiatives marked a first in the Indian insurance industry, reflecting his ability to translate personal experience into business solutions with social impact.

“As a veteran, this was more than a professional milestone; it was an opportunity to design solutions that could genuinely make a difference to communities I deeply care about,” he explains.

“Awareness around life insurance has grown, yet penetration in India remains low relative to our population size. Many households either remain uninsured or underinsured, leaving them vulnerable in unforeseen circumstances,” he says.

He identifies product complexity, low financial literacy, and lack of trust as key barriers. To tackle these, he advocates for simplified products, transparent communication, empowered distribution, and financial literacy initiatives. At Pramerica Life, this translates into targeted programs for defence personnel, young families, and underserved communities across India, ensuring insurance becomes accessible, trusted, and indispensable.
